Vision

The secondary schools within NOA all have distinctive teaching ideologies and methodologies. The Montessori school and Waldorf for example both focus on strong pedagogical principles. Calandlyceum and the IJburg College, on the other hand, both focus on the individual development of pupils. When at placement within these schools the focus will be on the school’s distinctive teaching beliefs and principles.

The actualisation of NOA’s vision can be seen in the following:

  • Key figure in educational changes;
  • Educate teacher-trainees to become skilled teachers that meet modern day requirements;
  • Preparing teacher-trainees to teach in developing schools;
  • Preparing teacher-trainees for modern day teaching in an international and intercultural context with emphasis on pedagogical and didactical skills reflecting the placement schools’ vision on education;
  • Get teacher-trainees involved in mobilising their talents and exceeding in their field of expertise;
  • Getting teacher-trainees to become world citizens with demonstrable international study or traineeship experience;
  • Offering qualified trainers at partnered schools, colleges and universities;
  • Letting teacher-trainees and teachers become part of a digital learning environment;
  • Positively impact teacher-trainees learning in urban schools;
  • Prepare and retain effective teachers for challenging urban settings;
  • Provide professional learning opportunities for practicing teachers;
  • Conduct research to help facilitate the development of effective urban teachers;
  • The program supports public teacher training colleges in strengthening the skills and expertise of educators, so they are prepared to deliver quality education.
